Random Cam

This post will not do his cuteness (or stinkerness) justice, but we need to document our little Cameron. Pictures don't really do it justice.

Cam story: One night I was putting Cam to bed and will sometimes do this. I leaned close to his face and whispered, "I love you, Mommy Loves you, Roen and Halle love you, grandma and grandpa Martinsen love you, Grandma Reta loves you, Heavenly Father and Jesus love you you. You have so many people that love you. Cam sweetly reaches up and puts his hands on my cheeks, and whispered, "I want water."
Not really the response I was expecting!

His refusal to sit for a haircut meant Dad would have to do it while bribing, distracting, and restraining him. Ergo, it did not happen very often. He's finally doing better with it though.
These brothers are best bud or worst enemies. It's difficult to tel which, it changes frequently throughout the day.

He came out of the playroom and asked, "Hey Mommy, wanna take a picture of me?"
He is our most independent. It doesn't cross his mind to ask for help. He just goes and finds a way to get it done. Unless it's putting his undies on after going potty. Totally capable of doing it, but refuses to do it himself. So in the middle of the night we will often get woken up with undies in the face. And, we're too tired to force him to do it himself in the middle of the night.
He came to visit Daddy at work. No cavities!
This kid loves his chips and dip.Even this spicy tamatillo salsa! There must be something genetic about it.
This is his robot outfit. He walks in with his robot voice, "bee bee--robot."

He got this new puzzle for his 3rd birthday. Triumphant after first assembly.
He has two settings, crazy, and off. He doesn't often nap anymore, but will occasionally crash after days of no naps.
But this is most often what happens. It takes about 4 minutes and he is out.
He came with Mommy to Dad's work to show off baby Jake.
He had to draw a picture to decorate Dad's desk.
He's good about getting dragged to all the other kid's activities. Poor 3rd child.

He is a sweety, and so cute. Sometimes it's really good that he's cute. It's a great defense mechanism against the wrath he would face for being a stinker.

Discovery Club!

Roen possibly has the coolest Preschool ever. He absolutely loves going there. They have all sorts of cool and amazing stuff for the kids to learn in many different ways. They learn things with lots of visual, feeling things, and songs. He can remember stuff he learned months ago, and repeat it to you verbatim. He can't remember when I asked him to get his pajamas on 5 minutes ago, but he can tell you what the surface of Jupiter might be like, and they learned that in October.

This is the loft where the kids can go if they need some alone time. Only two kids allowed up there at a time. (Roen knows all the rules, and can tell you all of them in detail).

This was the arctic/antarctic unit. Roen is playing with fake snow here.

They have parent presentation days, where they can sing you all their songs, and the kids answer questions the teachers give them. Roen always remembers whatever they ask him.

All the kids are really well behaved too. They do a good job making the rules clear and fun.

They had a desert unit. We live in the right place for that! They went on a desert walk up at Usery Pass. Roen wanted to stay right by the teacher and hear everything she had to say. We went back to this same place a few weeks later as a family and Roen pretty much gave us the same info word for word.
A little snack after the hike

Now they're moving on to more reading and writing. Roen really had trouble even making all the sounds back in September or October, and blending them together was out of the question. But now he all of a sudden is full on reading books. Crazy! He's a really good student. We're slightly worried he's going to be majorly bored next year in kindergarten when they don't do so much cool stuff!

Soccer!

This was Halle's second year of soccer and Roen's first. We thought it would be great, but didn't realize Halle moved up to a league that played on on Saturday Mornings and Roen played Friday nights. Whew! We were at the soccer fields a lot! But it was fun. Both the kids did great, got so much better and had tons of fun. So many good things come from playing sports.

Halle juking a giant blond girl. Has anyone checked her birth certificate?

Halle was on the Blue Sharks. Halle was fairly...how you say?...competitive. She does not like losing! She was always a good teamate, and always did whatever her coach asked.

Roen was in the 3-5 year old group. This is the funnest league there is, and the only one Rob would ever willingly coach. It's just 3 on 3 with no goalie. It's half soccer half wrestling, but all fun.
Roen was on the Green Ninjas. These boys had so much fun. Looking forward to next year.

Halloween!

Halle went as Merida this year. This will be her last year in the Halloween Parade at school... Sad.

With Great Grandma Martinsen
Grandpa Martinsen gave the kids a crazy Tractor ride

Cam prefers to be in control
We had a neighborhood block party you pay candy for admittance and have lots of games and food. Kids had so much fun.
Fishing
Bowling
Roen had a pretty good throw! That's his cousin Kade running the game beside him.
Halle doing an impromptu jig in the street.
Trick or treating.
And our house was last!
Yes, I let our kids eat Halloween candy...for a bit. Then it miraculously disappears.

Halloween Party and pumkin patch

We had the Annual Scoresby Halloween party where all the cousins dress up. This year the older kids had a fireside right after so they are dressed as Missionaries.

Cam is our Captain America (left) and Halle and Roen on the right. Halle went as Merida (from Brave) and Roen was his current favorite super hero Spiderman.
Roen enjoying (more than competing) in the donut on a string game.
Cam lost interest in wearing the Captain America costume but still interested in donuts
We went to a pumpkin patch for FHE and enjoyed a hayride, games, and hot dogs.

Halle leading the crew through the Hay Maze
Annie and Cam

The kids got to pick out tiny pumpkins and decorate them with markers and stickers

Too cute not to post all three pictures
