Hill Cumorah Pageant

This week we took Halle to the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra. Since it doesn't start until after dark (about 9:15 here) Roen was left with a babysitter, and Halle got to go on a date with Mommy and Daddy. At her request we went to Applebee's, and paid 6.50 for what looked exactly like craft Macaroni and Cheese. We spent some time visiting with cast members and then hunkered down with some blankets for the show. Palmyra actually set a record low for this time of year (somewhere in the 50's!).

They use the local wards for volunteers for parking, ushers, and security. I worked security on another night, which is basically like a glorified usher, making sure people aren't where only cast members should be. But, they do give us radios and flashlights. I did it last year and it was a total blast, one because you get to see some behind the scenes stuff, and two because you get to hear radio traffic about the anti-mormon protesters. I don't even understand these guys, they aren't even representing a church or cause, they just want to tell us we're wrong. They even have this billboard truck that drives up and down the road with an anti-mormon website printed on it. Who is spending money on billboards and bullhorns trying to sway us to nothing in particular? Weird. Another fun thing is to get the full time pageant security staff to laugh and take their job a little less seriously. Unsuccessful, 2 years running.

Isn't it sweet to have special time with only one child? I love when we only have one kid at a time and can give all our attention to that one kid. They love it even more, I'm sure. Looks like you guys had fun. We miss you.
