"Party Like It's 1999!"

Halle Beth is officially 4! Poor thing only had 3 parties this year. One in San Diego, the next on her birthday, and the third with friends, on the weekend. Surprisingly, Halle's request was for a frog cake this year. I would have assumed something uber feminine, princesses, flowers, barbies, fluffy pink puppies with hearts… But a frog was the consistent request. It was a bit of a relief from the norm. Plus, Rob wanted to have a go at cake decorating, and I thought that was just a brilliant idea. He did a lovely job by the way. Although we've learned that you really shouldn't use extra moist cake mixes if you don't want crumbs in the frosting. Live and learn.

The actual birthday was filled with all of Halle's favorites, pancakes for breakfast, Taco Bell for lunch, pizza for dinner, followed by presents. I think she felt really special to be able to choose everything her way for a day. Which made me feel so happy, as we tend to think Halle's about as good as they come. The party was super fun. We really believe in the simple parties; an activity, a game, some cake and ice cream, a song and a wish, and you've got yourself a perfectly happy little birthday girl and perfectly happy little friends.

That cake is awesome! When you said frog cake, I had cartoon, flat cake in mind. Way to go Rob!

What a big girl. Halle likes all the right things, Tabo Bell & pizza, sounds like my birthday!

Impressive, Rob. If that Dentist gig doesn't pan out, you may have a future in the cake decorating field. But that's kind of on the same level as a balloon guy at a restaurant, so you may want to keep these skills on the down-low, I'm just say'n.
