Falcon Field

We went to the Confederate Air Force museum at Falcon Field Airport near our house the week before New Years. It was a pretty fun little trip.

This was the kids favorite part. Riding around in the peddle toy in the hanger.

The are functioning planes. They are owned by private owners who have them on display here at the museum and then they take the out and fly them occasionally. We can see them flying over our house sometimes. Rob asked how much they cost. Oh...just $1.3 Million.

They have lots of other planes, a F-4 Phantom, Helicopters, and even a Mig. The are trying to rebuild another Mig right now, and they had this little Water Cooler bottle to collect donations. I think our pocket change will go a long way to rebuilding that thing. At least one day, we can say, "We bought this rivet right there."

This is a B-17 from World War II. This is one of the most iconic planes of the War, and Falcon Field is home to one of the few functioning models left. They are working on it here, so we couldn't go in the cockpit.

 But Roen got to handle the Machine Gun. This plane looks so big, but it is cramped. Just enough room for guns, bullets, bombs and the crew. This is really fun to see this flying around.

 It was kind of a rainy day. One of the few in Arizona!

But the kids got to watch the planes land and take off.
And of course we had to buy some souvies. They each got little B-17's, even Halle wanted that over some of the more girly stuff. Fun little trip!
