Valladolid

On Sunday we took a drive to an old Colonial Town called Vallodolid. The streets surrounding the square are all lined with connecting buildings stuccoed and painted pastel colors in the traditional Spanish way. It's a beautiful city, and pretty prosperous. We just enjoyed walking around, looking through the shops, and the long drive made for an easy laid back day. We ate at a delicious restaurant right next to an old monastery, and made sure we found some Magnum's on the way back to the car. Magnum's are an ice cream bar with chocolate and almonds. Well, there are different types but we always get the almond kind. They had them in Australia, and when we went to Ecuador, but never have seen them in the US. So we made sure to have a few while we were in Mexico.

Annie with a woman in the square. She is wearing a traditional Mayan dress as many of the women here do. You  can see what I mean about the height of the people, and she isn't even the shortest we saw.

Annie in the Cathedral

Lots of these old Cathedrals were built using stones taken from the old Mayan cities.

The square had these funny shaped chairs so you could sit and face one another.
