To celebrate our nations birthday we went to another country. Well, kind of. We just went on a boat tour that crossed over to Canada a little bit. We went to Thousand Islands in upstate NY on the St. Lawrence river. Yes, this is where the dressing came from. This is the largest inland waterway in the world, and connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes. Despite the gloomy day it was still unbelievably gorgeous. We took a boat tour around the area and got a great view of this beautiful area. There are actually 1,854 islands here. They base this count on the criteria that the island must be at least 1 sq. foot, be above water 365 days a year, and have at least one living tree on it! A lot of these islands are privately owned and have houses on them. By Houses I actually mean mansions, for the most part anyway. One is owned by a guy who was one of the original four investors in McDonald's, which is probably why the "secret sauce" is Thousand Islands dressing.
On one island (Heart Island) we toured a castle a man named George Bolt built for his wife. We told Halle bed time stories all week about how Mr. Bolt was not a King and had no Princess for his castle and was looking for one, and when he saw this little red haired girl he decided to give it to her. But first she had to prove she could do princessy things (share, be obedient, and be friendly to everyone). Needless to say Halle was excited, and thankfully, did not throw a fit when the castle was not bestowed upon her upon the end of our visit. Roen was a little wired after going to bed 3 hours later than usual, and decided his holiday trip would best be spent sprinting at all things dangerous. He did not stop moving the entire tour, until we disembarked at Bolt Castle and he crashed in the stroller for a nap. He is so lucky he has parents who are both vigilant and speedy, otherwise he would have ended up in the water. In fact, I think we saved him approximately 35 times before plunging headlong off a dock or railing.
We returned safe and sound, and dry even though it was cloudy and rained off and on we were indoors (or car) for each downpour. One of these days summer will come to NY. Happy Independence Day!

That looks amazing. You are getting to do some pretty awesome things up there, it's not a Gator football game, but it's probably almost as cool.
Sarah could give you further info on what it takes to be "princessy" - seeing as her mother unwittingly named her the Hebrew definition of the word...and made the mistake of telling her this at an early age. I must warn you, though, history has proven that this definition is delicate and ever-changing.
Good Luck!
How beautiful! Your trip looks like a lot of fun. Tell Annie hi for me.
