Fathers and Sons/ Salt River Rafting

Roen and I got to go on our second Fathers and Sons together. Last year we went up on the Rim and it was 20 degrees. This year we went to Mesquite wash and it was 102! Luckily, we got there around 4:30 and left fairly early in the morning so it wasn't too bad. In fact, sleeping temps were perfect.

Roen had fun with other boys his age getting dirty. We roasted hot dogs and smores and had a good time.

We left our rain fly off and watched some shooting stars. Right above our tent you could see Mars so clear you could really see the redness compared to the other stars around it.

The next morning we went exploring after breakfast.

Roen tracking a Coyote.

Roen was unhappy with the water level and did his best to raise it. Look at that form!

After Fathers and Sons we met Annie's sister April and her family for rafting down the Salt River. We got a babysitter for Cam and their 1 year old and headed out with the older kids.

We debated about going the long or short route but glad we went a bit shorter, it ended up being just right. The kids had fun with their cousins and taking quick dips in the cold water to get a break from the heat. And no one got sunburned!

We also saw something I haven't seen in AZ since I was a kid!

A Bald Eagle! "OH-OH, SAY, CAN YOU SEE....!"

The rest of the crew. Thanks April and Ryan!
